The Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes is the most consequential player in the NFL. He has attained so many leagues and achieved the respect of his football associates and his football fans.

He was awarded a $503 million contract in July. He also became a role model and beforehand spoke out about following your dreams.

Fans questioned whether Patrick Mahomes is Black or White. 

He has spoken out about his own multi-national identity, including having a White mom and African-American dad, and has encouraged young people to follow their dreams.

On Sept. 17th, 1995, Patrick Lavon Mahomes II was born in Tyler, Texas. His father’s name is Pat Mahomes Sr. and his mother is Randy Martin.

As for his ethnicity, his father is Black, and his mother is White. In January, Patrick Mahomes spoke out at an ESPN interview about being a quarterback in the NFL.

The quarterback has a Black dad and a White mom.

Patrick Mahomes’ father was also a professional athlete, and the more junior Mahomes followed in his dad’s steps and played baseball. 

Patrick Mahomes Proud To Be Black

Notwithstanding, Patrick Mahomes is proud to be Black. He said this in an interview with 

Clay Skipper of GQ magazine. The Super Bowl winner was fed up with the members of the public who were classifying him as “not full Black”.

To the people who tweeted on Twitter, ‘Oh, you’re not full Black’, he replied, “but I’ve perpetually just confidence and belief in who I am. It is known to me I’m Black. And I’m proud to be Black”.

Patrick Mahomes Winning An Award As an African-American 

Patrick Mahomes completed his first season as a quarterback while they dubbed him the NFL’s MVP.

In receiving his award, he praised his team. Besides this, he also said to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team’s management and also his supporters:

“It is just the start; we need to go a long way”. He comfortably expressed his support for the progression of African-American quarterbacks in the NFL.

There is a record that five African-American quarterbacks led their teams into this postseason; nevertheless, none won the Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes was the second African-American quarterback to win the NFL’s MVP award outright.

Patrick Mahomes is the newest quarterback. This season he completed 50 touchdowns and tied for the youngest to throw over 5,000 yards.

As African-American quarterbacks, the legends Warren Moon, Doug Williams, and James Harris considered the importance of Patrick Mahomes getting the award. 

These three legends are important mainstays of the African-American quarterback progression in the NFL.


As other legends express their support, Mahomes is also celebrating his big win.
