Washington, DC \u2013 <\/strong>The National Council on Problem Gambling<\/a> (NCPG) today\u00a0launched its new Agility Grant program. This strategic initiative, funded by the National Football League Foundation, will offer funding to nonprofit organizations across the country for problem gambling prevention programs.<\/p>\n

Building on NCPG\u2019s mission and values, the Agility Grant investments will center on three core principles: innovation, collaboration and amplification. NCPG expects to be able to award $20,000 – $40,000 grants to 4-6 nonprofit organizations through this initiative in round 1. Agility Grants will seek to support problem gambling prevention program growth in areas across the United States\u00a0where currently there is a lack of adequate programming. In doing so, this will lead to harm reduction and improved well-being for individuals and families in more communities around the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cProblem gambling prevention providers are historically under-resourced. These Agility Grants will provide support and help build some much-needed momentum towards reducing the long-term personal, social and economic costs of problem gambling,\u201d said Keith Whyte, NCPG Executive Director. \u201cFunded projects will foster new ideas, elevate new voices and create new partnerships to strengthen the efficacy\u00a0of prevention programming. We encourage all eligible organizations to apply.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applications for the first round of funding are being accepted today through February 22, 2022, with funding award announcements made in March 2022. \u00a0Applications will be evaluated on several criteria, including alignment to the Agility Grants program principles and funding pillar strategies, as well as anticipated community impact. Organizations may apply for Agility Grants under one or both strategic funding pillars:<\/p>\n

– Prevention Innovation: To foster and accelerate the development, deployment or research of gambling addiction prevention programs and curricula to address key at-risk and priority populations.<\/p>\n

– Amplification: To increase community awareness, response and support through the identification and elevation of new leaders, partnerships and voices within the problem gambling community-especially prioritizing youth and leaders of color.<\/p>\n

The Agility Grant program is open to U.S. nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) public charity designation by the IRS (or fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit organization). To support equitable access to this grant funding, NCPG will provide assistance to interested applicants who seek to better understand the requirements for applying for an Agility Grant. NCPG anticipates the round two Agility Grant application will become available for competition in late Summer \/ early Fall 2022.<\/p>\n
